LG unveils world’s largest 3D LED display
LG has this week revealed an LED display which is officially the world’s largest to feature 3D playback. The launch took place in the United Arab Emirates and many attended to see the monster 72 inch LED display in all its glory.
The diagonal measurement of 72 inches makes the LED display almost 60 inches wide and 40 inches high. It is likely that those with oil money in the UAE and other high rolling consumers around the world will pick up this ultimate entertainment device.
This LED display from LG takes the model number LZ9700 and it has a 1080p full HD resolution which will be entirely necessary on a screen so large.
What is significant about this LED display apart from its size is the fact that it uses full LED backlighting rather than the edge-lit alternative which has been bemoaned by many for its inconsistent lighting which can present onscreen images which lack uniformity of brightness.
This LED display will of course be compatible with various 3D sources including 3D Blu Rays, videogames and television broadcasts. It has a 400Hz refresh rate to keep up with the number of frames a second it is necessary to display in order to replicate the stereoscopic 3D effects.
The LG LZ9700 is an LED display which can also be connected to the internet via Ethernet cable or wireless network, giving it access to various streaming services, including YouTube via LG’s NetCast service. This is currently less comprehensive than the options from rival Samsung, but it is still a forward-thinking inclusion in such a high-end display such as this.
It will be interesting to see how long LG is able to hold onto the title of world’s largest 3D full LED display for the LZ9700 as, in this market, there is always pressure on competitors to bring out new products to break records.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
