Large scale LED board coming to US sports ground
Wrigley Field, which is home to the Chicago Cubs, is getting a major update with a 75 foot long LED board, which will provide visitors and home fans with scores, stats, advertisements and other salient information while they are visiting the ground.
According to USA Today, the 75 foot LED display will convey a wide variety of content to the crowds, from player pictures and batting averages, to the current score and other static information.
Although the details of the screen update have yet to be finalised, it is thought that the display may not be used to playback full motion video, although it will almost certainly be able to showcase colour stills for ads and imaging purposes.
As such, fans will not be able to watch live action replays or TV-style marketing campaigns, allowing the LED screen to fulfil a more traditional function at this popular baseball pitch.
Wrigley Field is already graced by a number of smaller LED displays but owner, Tom Ricketts, said that this new screen will be the most significant and entertaining of them all, taking up the majority of one wall below the right-field bleachers.
It seems that Mr Ricketts is a great admirer of the way in which rivals the Boston Red Sox have been able to update their home ground of Fenway Park.
Using LED displays and other forms of dynamic signage, it has been possible for arenas and teams to increase the amount of revenue they generate from advertising, while improving the overall experience for the people who have paid to come and see games week after week.
LED displays of this calibre are now a common sight not only in the US, but also further afield at venues across the world.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
