Canadian city converts to LED lighting
Canada’s capital city has hits its target to convert all of its festive lights to LED bulbs.
Ottawa has been phasing in LED lights since 2006 with a view to convert entirely to the innovative lighting by this year.
Installed by the National Capital Commission (NCC), LED lights currently decorate a host of buildings in the city.
“The technology evolved and got better, so we started including LED lights in 2006. All of the lights in the display are LED lights,” Julie Rocheleau, spokesperson for the NCC, told the Centretown News.
Up to 300,000 bulbs have been installed in the parliament buildings and many embassies and museums in the area.
Ms Rocheleau revealed that LED lights were chosen to help reduce the city’s power consumption and they have cut energy bills by 80 per cent.
Welland, in Ontario, recently converted its Christmas displays to LED lighting in a bid to save money.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
