LED signs provide “real time” transport schedules
Bus stops in a US state will soon be installed with LED signs to keep commuters informed regarding estimated arrivals of shuttles.
The Centre Area Transportation Authority (Cata), in Pennsylvania, has joined forces with Avail Technologies to erect LED signs which display the arrival times of the city’s buses.
In addition to the LED boards, commuters will soon be able to log-on to the authority’s website to find out when buses are due.
Eric Bernier, service development manager at Cata, explained that the LED signs have helped modernise the transport system.
“We could’ve put a sign up 20 years ago that showed scheduled time, but the real-time is what makes it different,” he told the Daily Collegian.
“Our ridership is of the nature that they would appreciate and take advantage of this. We’re serving a pretty tech-savvy group.”
Elsewhere, bus stops located near Cal Poly Pomona, in California, recently received LED signs which display bus times.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
