Ship’s ‘retreat’ gets LED screens

A recent refurbishment of a selection of cruise ships has seen the addition of LED screens.

Cruise company, Holland America Line, has updated the pool areas on a variety of its ships in order to give travellers a premium experience.

The pool area, called the Retreat, has been divided into three sections with each one surrounded by comfortable lounge chairs.

Showers and waterfalls have been added so guests can cool themselves on hot days.

In addition, a pizzeria and band area have been incorporated into the Retreat to provide food and entertainment.

Guests can also watch films on LED screens which have been placed around the pool.

Richard Meadows, executive vice president of the company, believes the refurbishment will appeal to travellers.

He said: “We’re creating an area where guests can relax outside in a sophisticated environment.

“We’re adding other fun and convenient features such as a whirlpool, a band and DJ stand and even a pizzeria.”

Princess Cruises recently installed LED screens on a variety of its ships as part of its Movies Under the Stars scheme.
