Vegetables growth ‘boosted’ by LED lights
An entrepreneur is using LED lights to significantly increase the growth of vegetables.
Brad Buttrick has taken tips from Nasa astronauts who use LED bulbs to grow plants in spaceships.
Now the businessman is selling LED light units so plant producers can get the best from vegetables.
Mr Buttrick explained that vegetables kept under the innovative lamps grow twice as fast as those in natural lighting conditions.
Growth is increased because the red part of light that helps plants to develop can be concentrated in LED bulbs.
Mr Buttrick stated that in addition to boosting vegetable growth the bulbs are estimated to last up to 100,000 hours making them more environmentally-friendly.
“With everything going green now, this is the best system out there. If you hook up a solar panel to power this, you’d be growing for pennies,” he told the Citizen of Laconia.
Figures from Mr Buttrick’s company, iGrowWithLEDs, reports that the lighting units are being used in 15 different countries.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
