Trafalgar Square gets two new LED screens
A set of two LED displays have been erected at Trafalgar Square in London, created by Panasonic and commissioned as part of the preparations the capital is making ahead of the 2012 Olympics, which are now less than a year away.
Each LED display measures 33.6 metres across the diagonal and makes use of very bright LEDs in order to ensure the best viewing experience is available to the gathered crowds who have not secured tickets for various events.
The LED displays will primarily be used to showcase live feeds from the Aquatics Centre and given that Trafalgar Square is one of the most famous areas in the host city, it is likely to attract large numbers of people when key races take place.
Panasonic is actually one of the partners for the 2012 games and spokesperson Ralph Higson said that the company was pleased to be able to showcase its latest LED display technology in front of what will be a considerable audience.
There has been something of a stormy reception to the ticket allocation process for London 2012, with the random allocation of seats by lottery displeasing those who ended up with nothing. However, using LED displays in popular public locations is the next best thing to actually being in the stadium or arena.
There will likely be a number of other LED displays and outdoor screens erected across the country so that people can get together and revel in the experience of the greatest sporting show on earth.
With the LED displays going up on Trafalgar Square it is clear that the last leg of preparations are getting into full flow. Panasonic is clearly confident in the durability of its LED technology, as it will have to survive against the elements in the months before the games.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
