Toshiba launches 3D ready outdoor LED display
Toshiba has announced the creation of an outdoor or indoor LED display range, which will allow for the playback of content which is rendered in 2D, as well as stereoscopic 3D.
Toshiba unveiled the new screen during the Integrated Systems Europe 2011 conference and spokesperson, Charley Bocklet, explained what makes this LED display technology so special.
Bocklet pointed out that although there are already 3D ready LED displays on the market, by and large these are intended for indoor use. The Toshiba range is not hindered by these limitations and can also be used for outdoor signage and advertising.
It is thought that stadia will be the first places that the new 3D LED displays will be installed as they offer both 2D and 3D playback, with viewers required to wear the customary passive lens glasses in order to enjoy the replays and adverts in 3D.
Significantly, the LED display will be able to show 3D images at the same time as 2D, which means there will be no compromise made by those who do not wear the glasses or who cannot see the stereoscopic effects.
The screen shown at the conference was able to produce the best 3D results from around 20 feet away, although larger commercial screens may well give even better viewing distances.
Toshiba used the conference to showcase another of its LED systems, this time its 4mm LED wall. Measuring 33 feet across, the LED wall is a real looker, even when viewed at relatively close quarters.
Toshiba said that the LED wall would be best used in stage productions and performances where instant set changes are required, as the wall gives those in charge of production the ability to carry this out almost instantaneously. Audiences should expect to be thrilled by this development.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
