Supermarket “eco-store” features LED lighting
A new Tesco store featuring LED lighting is likely to be constructed in Devon later this year.
The proposed Kingsbridge-based stored has been hit by a series of delays but planning officials are optimistic that the supermarket will be built this autumn.
Plans show that the company intends to construct an eco-friendly shop that features a host of energy-saving devices.
Melanie Chiswell, corporate affairs manager for the supermarket, told the Dartmouth Chronicle that the store had been investigating how to significantly reduce its carbon footprint.
In addition to LED lights, the shop is expected to include wind turbines and devices which enable rainwater to be recycled.
“The eco store will cost us more money at the outset but will payback over a matter of years and help us to fulfil our environmental responsibility,” said Ms Chiswell.
Earlier in the year, Sainsbury’s became the first supermarket in the UK to install LED lights in its freezers.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
