Regeneration of a Former Steelworks brings excitement to a community
Samuel Fox first established a steel works in the town of Stocksbridge in 1842 and built up much of the infrastructure of the town which at that stage was a small development. The steelworks have expanded over the years and now neighbours the new development.
Fox Valley is a new and exciting regeneration development of the 28 acre former steelworks site in North Sheffield. The £50 million scheme will transform it into a vibrant mixed use town centre development including retail units, cafes and restaurants, office space, car parking as well as a new housing development neighbouring the main retail scheme.
The development, delivered by South Yorkshire based Dransfield Properties, has been carefully designed to reflect the area’s rich industrial heritage as well as delivering the need for new retail, residential and commercial requirements creating some 900 new jobs.
Phase One of the development was officially opened in June 2016 by the Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley OBE who declared the new centre open to a huge crowd of shoppers. Phase two opens in early September.
Working closely with Dransfield Properties, LEDsynergy was commissioned to manufacture and install two 3 x 2 metre full colour indoor video screens mounted into a custom build structure. The LED pitch of each display is 3mm giving a high resolution of 1152 x 640 pixels. The screens are designed to show promotional content for the centre as well as its many retail outlets and eateries. It can show static images and text as well as full animation and video, only limited by ones imagination. An excellent marketing tool for the new centre and its shops and restaurants.
LEDsynergy has installed many similar screens both indoor and outdoor for numerous different applications, including an outdoor full colour video screen at Marlowes shopping Centre in Hemel Hempstead situated in a pedestrian area at the entrance to the shopping centre, again this was part of a local regeneration scheme undertaken by Greenford Ltd,.LEDsynergy installed a similar sized screen to that of the screen installed at Fox Valley but with an LED pitch of 8mm which is a good resolution for an outdoor screen. The display has been a huge success and has proved to be an invaluable tool in promoting the individual retail units and promotional events happening within the centre.
Another screen has recently been installed at the SSE Hydro Centre in Glasgow, a multi purpose Indoor Arena. LEDsynergy installed a 10mm LED pitch video screen with a resolution of 160 x 144 pixels. This was installed within a custom built waterproof casing, coloured coded for the client with static graphics. The screen not only shows promotional content for the centre with live shows and music, but can also be used for more informational content such as road conditions and traffic information.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
