Next-gen LED displays showcased by Samsung
Electronics manufacturer Samsung is using the Digital Signage Expo 2011 in Las Vegas as the launch pad for a selection of new LED displays designed for digital signage.
The most impressive LED display featuring at the conference is the 550UT, which measures 55 inches across the diagonal and has class-leading bezel thinness, allowing for full integration into an impressive wall panel setup that is perfect for advertising, entertainment and information.
The Samsung 550UT uses an LCD panel in combination with LED backlighting. It is the LED technology which allows the display to be slimmer and lighter than its rivals while also being brighter, more efficient and better value over the span of its life.
The 550UT has a native resolution of 1920×1080 which means it is compatible with a full HD video feed and it uses direct-lit LED technology in order to cut down on energy wastage and ensure that the display has a consistent backlight across its entire expanse, enhancing its professional performance.
Samsung used the DSE 2011 event to unveil a number of new display technologies and LED systems. As well as the more conventional LED video walls it showcased a multitouch table which allows for interactive operations on a flat surface and was developed in partnership with software giant Microsoft.
Samsung’s Kevin Schroll said that the new display technology would be suitable for a range of purposes, aiming to meet the needs of both large scale retailers and venues as well as those who are creating smaller scale exhibitions where cost and size are more restricted.
There is a lot of competition in the LED display market, but Samsung looks poised to perform well over the coming year if products like the 550UT catch the interest of major commercial buyers.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
