NASA harnesses LED display for US event
A large scale, modern LED display is being erected in New York to help support the Wonders of the Universe event, which is being held by famous space organisation NASA.
The LED display will be incorporated into a virtual tour of our solar system and further afield, with the first public access allowed from August 17th.
Measuring around 10.5 metres across, the LED display will have a high definition resolution and be able to playback detailed, vibrant content to enhance the experience of visiting the exhibit.
NASA is attempting to create a kind of space-age outpost within the Kimpton Eventi Hotel in Manhattan and will be doing so by adding a variety of screens and areas that will represent what future generations might experience in the endless void outside of Earth’s atmosphere.
A number of NASA employees have been involved in creating kid-friendly tasks and many will be present at the event in order to help youngsters engage with the biggest scientific quandaries of our time.
2011 has been a big year for NASA with the recent conclusion of the 30 year Space Shuttle initiative representing a real shift in the way that the organisation operates.
It is hoping that the LED display and various features of the show in New York will help to entice the next generation of scientists and explorers to get involved.
To keep things simple there will be the chance for kids to develop their own space technology using Lego blocks, although the focus will be very much on constructing items that might make it into space.
Keen members of the public will have to wait until mid August until the event opens but with all the LED displays inside it should truly be an interesting experience for those who can make it inside.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
