LED screens to provide travel information
A Canadian city is installing LED screens in its bus shelters to keep travellers up-dated with transport information.
The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is incorporating LED boards into 350 bus and streetcar shelters in the city.
Travellers will be able to see via displays exactly where buses are located and if they are running to schedule.
In addition, text messages can be requested by city-dwellers so they can receive travel information direct to mobile phones.
The technology is expected to be fully installed by 2010 and aims to help commuters plan journeys.
Adam Giambrone, chairman of the TTC, unveiled the first LED screen this week and believes the displays will have a positive impact on passengers.
“It will give people more information to make intelligent decisions about how they travel and move around the city and that’s critical,” he told the Star.
Transport officials in Abu Dhabi recently announced that the city was installing LED screens into its bus stops.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
