LED lights installed on iconic tower
The Boston skyline is set to glow with LED lights following a recent bulb refit.
City icon the Marriot Custom House Tower will have all its traditional incandescent bulbs replaced with LED lights.
The new technology was installed as part of special festival, illuminaleBOSTON, which concentrated on the city’s lighting needs.
LED lights, provided by Philips Color Kinetics, have been incorporated from the 17th floor of the tower to its top.
The new bulbs are expected to last for more than 20 years if they are used for six hours daily.
Jeff Cassis, chief executive of the lighting provider, believes the LED lights will prove to be a popular replacement in many cities.
“We’re proud to light this local landmark while also making Boston an example for other cities to follow; both in our uniquely beautiful skyline and the energy-efficient way that we illuminate it,” he said.
The tower was constructed in the 1800s and is the city’s 17th tallest skyscraper.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
