LED displays get interactive at Wembley
The recent Rugby Football League clash between Wigan and Leeds held at Wembley was one of the first events of its kind to allow fans to interact with digital signage with interesting results.
During the half time period, the large 13x8m LED display in the stadium was harnessed in order to run a quiz, which in itself is not unusual. What made this special was the fact that the quiz was actually interactive, taking advantage of smartphone technology to allow for real time responses from members of the crowd.
Those who had downloaded the app created by digital content firm ScreenReach, were able to participate in the quiz in a manner previously unavailable to them.
The quiz consisted of a number of video clips showing famous moments from Rugby being displayed on the LED screen. A question relating to the clip and with multiple choice answers was then asked and those who were able to use their apps to choose the correct option the fastest won a prize.
Two overall winners were chosen based on answer speed and accuracy and using a link-up with social networking site Facebook, it was possible for the quiz champions to have their profile pictures displayed on the large screen for the whole stadium to see.
Even if you took part on the day and did not win there is still a chance to pick up some prizes as users of the app were entered into a random draw that will dole out VIP tickets to another RFL matchup at Wembley in the winter.
Integrating interactivity, social media sources and real time participation into digital signage setups is certainly the way forward and should enhance the visitor experience at sporting events and other public gatherings in the coming years.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
