Laser and LED systems combined for projector setup
A next generation projector engine which combines laser and LED systems is being showcased by Casio America at the Digital Signage Expo (DSE) 2011.
The hybrid light source kicks traditional mercury lamps to the curb in favour of a blend of laser and LED systems in order to pump out a maximum 3000 lumens of brightness which will help to enhance the colour pallet of any projector and also make the image easier to view when the ambient light is less than favourable.
Mercury lamps have been used in projectors for many years but when the time comes to dispose of them once they have ended their useful life it can be environmentally damaging unless performed by experts.
The new Casio LED and laser light source will not suffer from these same issues and will even last longer than mercury lamps. Casio states that you will be able to get 20,000 hours of operation out of a single hybrid light source, which equates to ten years of projection with five hours usage each and every day.
Casio’s Frank Romeo spoke about the cost reductions which would be associated with using hybrid projectors in the future, with 500 saved on average after 600 hours of operation when compared with a traditional mercury lamp.
While the LED technology is being put to good effect to improve efficiency, it looks like the rest of the projector will be using contemporary systems so that it is not necessary to build every aspect from the ground up. This should help to keep down the costs of buying Casio’s new projector after it is launched at DSE 2011.
The benefits of LED systems are becoming known to a much wider audience as firms like Casio innovate and create new solutions to replace inefficient alternatives.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
