Keeping Passengers Informed at ABP Southampton

Southampton is the UK’s number one vehicle handling port, Europe’s leading turnaround cruise port and the UK’s most productive container port.

LEDsynergy has recently installed a large full colour LED display board at the entrance to Dock gate 4 in the Eastern docks which includes the QE II Cruise and Ocean Cruise terminals.

“I am pleased to report that the boards are installed and operational with full training from LEDsynergy”, said Phil Neale Port Operations and Security Manager at ABP, Other staff members have said “ the screen looks fantastic and a great help in their operation”.

The LED display is manufactured as two separate sections, the top portion of the display is used to give directional information to the passengers driving into the docks and the second section below is an area that other additional information or graphics can be shown. It gives enormous flexibility in giving the passengers a huge amount of ever changing information with up to the minutes changes as they happen. In the picture shown right you can see the ABP logo being shown but in the picture below it stipulates a particular ship and which dock it is at.

The display measures just over 2 x 1 metre and is manufactured with a white surround and static lettering showing the ABP logo, which port and the dock gate. The LED display is 10mm pitch and is programmed with pre-scheduled messages directing the passengers to the correct lane and dock depending upon which ship they are about to board. It will give information on sailing times and general information.

I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
