‘Intelligent’ LED lights unveiled in car park
Designers from a US university unveiled LED lights which can help reduce the amount of energy wasted.
Michael Siminovitch, director at the California Lighting Technology Center, UC Davis, recently revealed the LED lights which have been installed in the university’s car park.
The LED lights are expected to save the institute money as 20 per cent less energy is needed to power them as compared with conventional incandescent bulbs.
“Even at half power, the LED fixtures are delivering plenty of light to the space. We may be able to cut levels further, saving even more electricity and lengthening fixture lifetimes,” Mr Siminovitch said.
“As for maintenance savings, we project they will be 42 percent of what we spent on the fixtures that were replaced.”
In addition, motion sensors are incorporated into the fixtures, meaning the bulbs are activated only when an object comes within 35 feet of the devices.
Other projects launched by the group include designing further external LED lights with technologically-advanced optics.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
