‘Green’ hotel incorporating LED lights opens
A hotel that is believed to be one of the greenest in the UK has opened today in Staffordshire.
Whitbread, owner of the Premier Inn hotel chain, states that its new premises in Tamworth are the greenest due to the installation of energy-saving devices.
The Premier Inn has been incorporated with LED lights throughout which have helped cut its energy consumption.
Savings on energy bills is expected to be in the region of 80 per cent due to the innovative LED bulbs.
In addition the hotel has used a plumbing system that uses heat in the earth’s surface to warm water.
Used water from baths and showers is recycled into toilet cisterns which helps reduce water usage by 20 per cent.
Alan Parker, chief executive of Whitbread, stated that the LED technology combined with other energy-saving techniques will reduce the hotel’s carbon footprint.
“We chose from a range of technology that we believe will deliver the most positive social and environmental impact on future hotel buildings,” he told Caterer Search.
The government has revealed plans to stop selling incandescent bulbs by 2011 in favour of more energy-saving lights.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
