First Commercially LED lit building Opens in USA

Marvel Food has opened its new store in Auburn , Washington State. Opened in June 2009 this is the first commercial new build to be fitted exclusively with LED’s. The 16,000 sq.ft deli uses LED lighting for both internal and external illumination.

With LED lighting reducing energy consumption by as much as 60% the supermarket industry worldwide is embracing LED lighting technology. As well as energy costs maintenance costs have also been saved.

Washington State has an energy code which determined that the project needed to come in at 27KW, by using LED’s the project has come in at under 9KW…
