City transport network installs LED boards
Students at a US university will soon be able to read the estimated arrival times of buses on LED screens.
A new system is to be installed in bus stops located at Cal Poly Pomona University, California.
Buses have been incorporated with GPS technology which sends messages to LED screens regarding the progress of journeys.
Screens located in bus stops will then display the arrival times of the shuttles so travellers are aware of any delays.
Glenn Shenker, director of public transportation at the university, told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune: “This will help students with comfort, knowing the bus will be here in three minutes.
“They don’t have to worry and it can relieve some stress.”
In addition to keeping commuters updated, the LED screens are environmentally-friendly as they are solar-powered.
Meanwhile, London’s newly-designed Routemaster bus will feature LED boards in a bit to reduce its carbon footprint.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
