Artist uses LED display for Death Counter

Artist uses LED display for Death CounterAn LED sign has been erected in London as part of an exhibit by a controversial artist.

Santiago Sierra recently unveiled his Death Counter installation featuring an LED sign which counts the numbers of people passing away each day across the world.

The LED clock has been fixed to the building of insurance provider Hiscox, which is based in the city’s centre.

Sierra is loaning his exhibit to the company for a year and will receive an insurance policy from the firm for the duration of the installation.

A spokesperson for the company stated that the LED sign will have an impact on city-dwellers.

Robert Read, group fine art underwriter for the firm, said: “This is a challenging and thought-provoking piece which will make its mark on the city.

“Hiscox is in the business of valuing risk so the relationships between the contract, value of life and unusual property are familiar topics. It portrays the complexity of commerce.”

According to Building Design, Jason Bruges Studio, from London, recently incorporated an LED light display into glass lift shafts as part of an art installation.

I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
