Apple iPad 3 to use advanced LED technology
The original iPad and its successor have both used the same LED backlit display, but now manufacturer Apple is thought to be trying something new for the third in this internationally popular tablet computing range.
The 9.7 inch on the iPad 2 has a native resolution of 1024×768 and it is illuminated by a single LED array, which provides sufficient brightness. However, Apple is looking to significantly increase the pixel count for the iPad 3, perhaps pushing it up to 2048×1536, according to the Digitimes.
With an increased resolution, the single LED strip would apparently not be bright enough to make the new display look its best, which is why Apple is investing in a brand new solution to get the job done.
Rumours suggest that Apple will choose to endow the iPad 3 with twin LED light bars located on either side of the display. This initially caused some problems with overheating and power consumption during development, but Apple’s partners have apparently ironed out the LED system so that it now works suitably with the next generation iPad.
Apple is expected to launch the iPad 3 in March of next year, with production beginning in December when two million units of the new tablet will be built in order to meet the large demand which is anticipated for this flagship device.
To go with the new LED display, the iPad 3 will reportedly feature a quad core processor and there are even suggestions that Apple will actually launch two tablets with different size displays, although final confirmation of the designs have yet to be given.
Many were disappointed when the iPad 2 launched with an LED display that was essentially identical to the screen found on its predecessor, but this news should allay fears of a repeat for the iPad 3.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
