40,000 streetlamps converted to LED lighting
A US city will have all of its traditional bulbs replaced with LED lights, according to new proposals.
William Peduto, councillor for Pittsburgh, recently released the plans – which will save the city a significant amount of money.
The proposals follow a successful pilot which saw specific areas of the region fitted with LED lights.
Replacing incandescent bulbs with the innovative lamps would reduce maintenance and energy costs by £1.6 million.
In addition, the LED lights are estimated to emit 984-pounds less carbon, making them more environmentally-friendly.
“This is a plan that saves taxpayers millions of dollars, while also protecting the environment,” Mr Peduto told LEDs Magazine.
“LED streetlights use less energy, require less maintenance, provide a brighter light, reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and contain no mercury. This is a win-win situation.”
According to the Independent, London recently installed LED streetlights in a pilot project that is expected to be rolled-out across the city.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
