360 degree LED display launched
An impressive new LED display designed for digital signage has been created by DynaScan and could be making an appearance at a transport terminal near you in the future.
The LED display is capable of showcasing content around 360 degrees of its cylindrical surface. The diameter of the first such display, installed at Saint-Lazare station in Paris, is 39 inches, while the column itself which supports the screen is nine feet high.
In total the area of the LED display measures 45 square feet, which is the equivalent of hanging a 120 inch flat screen TV in its place, but with the added convenience of having a much more compact form factor which can be viewed from any angle.
This particular LED display is not intended for outdoor use, so will be found in shopping centres, airports, stadiums and many other venues in which large amounts of information need to be delivered to the public in a clear, concise manner.
The idea of having a 360 degree LED display is not a unique one and in fact Dynascan has been pushing its own range of this kind of screen for some time. However, they are still relatively rare but with improvements in the technology they could become a far more common sight.
Interestingly, this LED display operates using a spinning internal module, not a fixed array of lights on the exterior panel. This allows it to have its cylindrical shape and also affords it a high native resolution, with the internal barrel of red, blue and green LEDs being controlled with precision, to deliver crisp, clear, colourful images.
LED displays have played an important part in the recent history of many interchanges where departure and arrival times need to be constantly updated while remaining highly legible for a diverse audience.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
