City saves money with LED traffic lights
A US city is set to save approximately £180,000 with the installation of LED lights.
Colorado Springs is incorporating LED bulbs into all its traffic signals in a bid to reduce its energy consumption.
Over the last five years traditional incandescent lights have been phased out in favour of the innovative bulbs.
In total, 561 traffic crossings will feature LED lights when the project is completed.
Tests show that the city has already made a 74 per cent saving on energy bills due to the replacement of traditional lights.
The traffic lights have proved so energy-efficient that city officials have drawn up plans to install LED bulbs into street lights.
Lisa Bigelow, budget director for the city, stated that she would welcome the opportunity to save more money.
“Any opportunity that we have to increase efficiency and getting cost savings is significant for our city,” she told the Gazette.
Earlier in the year, New York City installed LED streetlights in six areas to reduce energy costs.
I would recommend LED Synergy to anyone considering purchasing an LED sign. We have had so many compliments since it was installed and it has been a valuable asset.
